Here in Sidney, like everywhere else we live, Baha'is are committed
to making the world a better place, one neighbourhood at a time.
We call it walking the spiritual path with practical feet; and
we gladly work together with all other people of good will.

Baha'is in British ColumbiaAs early as 1910 individual Baha'is were living in B.C., beginning with the railroad town of Benson Siding. Not long after, the artist Marion Jack settled in Vancouver. By 1927, that community was large enough to elect its first community council known as the Local Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of Vancouver. Today, over 6,000 Baha'is are living in over 100 localities all across B.C. and of those 100 localities, 68 are large enough to have elected their local Assembly. You can see more about the B.C. region here.

Baha'is on the Saanich PeninsulaBaha'is have been living, working and contributing to the Saanich Peninsula since the early 1980's. Today there are elected Local Spiritual Assemblies in Central Saanich, North Saanich, and Sidney. Every year, on April 21st, the Baha'is of each community meet in a pure and serene atmosphere, to offer prayers before silently electing their new Local Spiritual Assembly for the coming year. This process of devotion and community service is how we are bringing peace on earth, community-by-community, wherever we reside.
